Our UK Adventure is Almost Here!

As our wonderful adventure is almost here I am now getting a bit excited as we received our full and extensive itinerary from Great British Trips and have printed off the 180 page PDF.

What an all inclusive document it is. It comes complete with lots of things we need to know about the places we will visit, as well as all our accommodation information, destination guides and vouchers for quite a few things. Thanks to Bill and Sue Prior for recommending this company who have made it all so easy so far.

We leave Sydney on 12th August, which as it happens is my 55th birthday so a great present for me! Fly to Dubai for a stopover and arrive in London on 14th August where we will spend a day before picking up our car and starting our journey.

Our trip starts by driving to Brighton on our first day. Looking forward to seeing this seaside town which I have seen many times depicted in movies and tv shows, as well as the Royal Pavilion, Brighton Pier and the lovely coloured changing boxes.

As we move on these are the many places we will be visiting and some of the reasons we are visiting them.

*Isle of Wight - history and landscape

*Salisbury - Stonehenge

*Torquay - Agatha Christie Mile

*Newquay - this is what started me on a trip to the UK - Cornwall. Lots to see here, one being the village where Doc Martin was filmed.

*Bath - What can I say! Georgian lifestyle, Roman Baths, Jane Austen and more.

*Ironbridge - birthplace of the Industrial Revolution

*Snowdonia - National Park so definitely landscape photography and walking.

*Dublin - It's Ireland what more can I say - Guinness, culture, history and scenery.

*Killarney - more scenery, history and culture, the Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula, part of County Kerry.

*Galway - more culture and scenery.

*Belfast - visiting the relatives, Giant's Causeway, the shipyards and definitely lots of history.

*Loch Lomond -  landscape photography.

*Isle of Mull - wildlife photography and most important (for me anyway) a trip to my favourite governor Lachlan Macquarie's mausoleum.

*Isle of Skye - scenery and photography.

*Inverness - history and Loch Ness.

*Edinburgh - castles, history and royalty.

*York - the walled city and it's history.

*Peak District - a wonderful national park so more photography as well as some history.

*Cambridge - history.

*Oxford - the university city and history.

*Back to London then back to Dubai for 3 days before flying home arriving on 9th October.

Along the way there will be lots of history, castles, scenery, wildlife, architecture and more history and more scenery. You get the idea.

I will try not to bore you along the way with too much history but showcase in photos what we are enjoying during our adventure.

Bring it on!!!!
